Why 1299?
It is the conventional opening date, not the date of a documented founding ceremony. The early entries follow a frontier principality taking shape over time. Where the date is traditional or disputed, the entry says so.
What appears here
The archive keeps the daily entry beside its notes, visual evidence, and selected sources. Some years support a map or object. Others are better left as text.
Who is behind it
The Ottoman Year is an independent English-language publication. It is not affiliated with a government, museum, or university. Research and production use software tools, including AI, but those tools are not treated as historical evidence.
